Pernicano's was established in 1946 with San Diego's 1st Original Pizza House on the West Coast in Hillcrest. Pernicano's has been in business for 74 years and were the first to introduce San Diego to the pizza pie! George Pernicano the founder and originator of the small family chain would stand in front of the restaurant handing out a slice of "pie" pizza to anyone that would take one.
